If I been asked once, I’ve been asked a dozen times, ‘what is going on with our German house?’ Well, the long and short of it is, not much. The Euro and the US Dollar are having a war right now, and the Euro is winning. Because we have so much renovation work to do and we will be paying for with American dollars, we will be unable to send money to Germany to fund the work until the Dollar and the Euro can come to an agreement between themselves to not kill us financially. 🙂
So in the meantime, we have someone watching over the house who we send a small stipend to, and we paying our utilities and bills to keep everything running and in place. We are hoping and praying that by this fall the Dollar will get stronger and we will be able to begin the major renovations of the house. Once those start, we will begin work on the roof, the electrical system, plumbing and adding a second bathroom, re-stabilizing a couple of walls and re-plastering the downstairs walls. We will also have to install the kitchen and finish a pass-through wall but we may do that when we get back there again. The second question we hear a lot is “Have you been back?” And sadly, the answer is no. We want to go back very much but until we have the renovations underway it doesn’t seem to be a wise use of our funds at this time.
The last question is: ‘What will he do with the house once it’s done?’ That is a great question! Right now, we want to use it for: pastors and their families, missionaries and missionary teams, and Christian writers/Christian artists to use as a location to focus on their work. Of course, we will use it for our family visits and to go see our friends as well!
So that is the update for now. We are praying for partnerships with churches and ministries to form during this waiting period so that we will be ready to have the place full of love and life when it is ready.
We covet your prayers in this season of waiting.
God Bless Your and Yours!
Gott Segne Dich!
